North Central Kansas | In one of my dad's letters home he writes about one of his friends being killed in a jeep accident after the war was over. My dad was the Battery mail clerk. In his letter he says the guy got a letter from his wife the next day after after he was killed. He had a young daughter. The church service was held in a small village in Germany and he was buried in the American cemetery in the Netherlands. We found this box of letters about two months after we had been to Germany. While we were in Germany we were taking the train and had a layover in a small village due to some track construction. I walked around while we waited. The village was where the funeral was held. When we went to the Netherlands to some of the places my dad was at we visited the cemetery near Maastrich Netherlands where his friend was buried. I wish I had known. | |
