Subject: RE: Rear discharge mower

South Central MN
Have a 60" exmark rear discharge. Bought it because I was tired of having to go around everything form one side, and because I didn't want to be launching stuff at the kids in the yard.

It is both the best and the worst tall grass cutting mower I have used. In really tall, pasture type grass, it is excellent. Having the entire rear of the deck open greatly reduces plugging, and discharging to the rear avoids the problem of having the knee high grass blocking the side discharge chute.

It is not so good at cutting a lawn that should have been mowed 2" ago. It does windrow and clump, although I am trying a full set of mulching blades to see if that helps.

It cuts regular height grass superbly. I wish there was a striping kit available, but it'd be hard to do. They have their drawbacks, but I'd get another one due to the convenience and safety factors.
