Subject: RE: Plastic or Sisal twine?

North Carolina
We switched to plastic on the round rolls last year, but still use sisal for the squares.

Advantages: Feeds better with no bulky clumps in the twine and cheaper. Bales that get set outside still have twine on the bottom when you pick them up later.

Disadvantages: Not biodegradable and seems to cause more wear on the points where it touches metal.

For us the pros outweighed the cons.

We are running a deere 385 with hydraulic tie. I don't know how it works on other brands.
