Subject: RE: Poll: Yield potential of June planted Corn

Nw Iowa
Yes but that is kind of a freak. We were in the terrible wet area of MN last year and June 1 corn around 75% give or take but our early planted stuff really shined in spite of last years cold and too wet. I agree with above late planted corn can also have quality issues and be wet. I am blending late planted corn off right now as I am waiting for another truck and our test weights haven’t been terrible but fm and corn is terrible dusty even air dryed stuff. Also a lot of small cob pieces in late corn. We did not plant anything after June 1 so don’t know what another week would have done to yield. Wasn’t really ideal last year as we continued to get rain all summer but did catch enough heat. Late planted corn with a back up plan like silage or wet corn for cattle would be ideal this year.
