Here's my solution to leaking Pacer pumps
ASAP after finding water/fert in crankcase drain oil and flush with gasoline
Take off pump and buy a pedestal mount Pacer pump About $200
connect new pump to old motor with a Lovejoy connector
Even if motor shaft is badly pitted the keyway will still work
Mount the whole thing on a sturdy board or thick plywood
Use it just like original but now several inches between for fluid to leak and never get to engine
When seal goes out in pump it is much easier to repair since it is not bolted to engine
I keep a seal kit and impeller in the shop
Got several old Hondas and Briggs still working after years
