We run all Banjo cast iron or FlowMax cast iron pumps with Honda motors. Some are over 10 years old and still going. There is almost an inch between the pump and motor. When the seal goes bad it will drip between the motor and pump. Seal are not bad to change after you see the first one.
Over winter the impeller will occasionally rust to the backing plate but it can be knocked loose with a pair of pliers most of the time.
The close coupled Banjo and all of the Pacer pumps are hard on motors. The newer Briggs are not as bad as the older ones.
