The 3G shutdown has caused a lot of pain for us. The reason that I like the data modem is that we have a few valley fields with weak cell signal. So an external antenna would do wonders. Also, most providers around here are about $5 a month for a low baud M2M plan. For that price I can just leave it on all. A dedicated tablet starts to add up after 12 months.
