Manitoba, Canada | That and I imagine the stone walls are very thick also and it would take a long time for the heat to penetrate. The core of the walls likely stayed surprisingly cool.
That actually brings up an interesting question. Would using water have been worse for the structure or better. I know some people that have lit a fire around a large boulder to heat it up and then spray it with water to crack it into smaller pieces. I wonder if they had to be careful when using water around the stone walls. | |
