Subject: RE: Rebuild....

Near-north Ontario, French River
News was saying a couple of multi-billionaires have stepped forward and pledged something like $200 million to help the efforts to rebuild. As much as a national and world treasure as Notre Dame was, I don't think fund raising for a rebuild will be an issue. One news program I was listening too said that sourcing trees large enough to replace the original room timbers could be an issue, as the beams were from massive old growth trees, that simply don't exist anymore. I think I would be concerned more with the damage done to the stone parts of the building, if the mortar/stone was damaged they may have to tear the whole thing down and rebuilt it from the ground up, not just the roof.
