| Retired meteorologist put in Sundays world herald that the corp. of engineers was warned two weeks ago to start making room for new water at Gavinspoint. They went from something like near 40,000 cubic feet to 90,000 just a few days ago. Both that water and the flood coming down the Platt River hit Plattsmouth at the same time, thus causing the levy to breach. They have since throttled it back again, had they not let any extra loose they could have quite likely lost the dam, but too bad they didn't get it done earlier. | |
