Ridgway, IL | Yes crops are dads, cattle is mine. I give him the manure. I stockpile with his truck. I spread it with his tractors, my spreader(s).
He gives me fuel. I make a good salary from his crop farm. I am the daily plan maker, and people manager at feedlot and crop farm most days. I market the crop, secure most the inputs, he does payroll, bill pay, compliance, etc. I have a couple part time employees at the feedlot but use dads labor when needed
We run a business sourcing and hauling feed ingredients. sourcing and hauling cattle as well. We do 15-30 loads of by products a week, probably 2-3 loads of cattle a week. Seasonally this starts to slow down now, which is good because we start tryin to idle down a little so we can get our crop in the ground . I would expect us to start spreading fert Thur if we miss a little rain shower wed
