Subject: RE: How are you seeding? Just surface broadcast? Nt

Anderson County Kansas
We broadcast it with dry fertilizer with an air machine after corn harvest. We use the turnips and radishes to break up compaction and the arg to stop erosion and break up compaction, as well as give us surface cover to plant beans it. We have some fields that have 5 years of this mix after corn, and I am pretty sure it is helping our yields. We raised some 70 bushel beans this year on two of our poorest fields that we had been planting covers on. If I am remembering correctly the seed cost is around 12 bucks an acre. I would have to go back and look to be sure and am not that energetic tonight. One thing I know for sure, there is no erosion where the covers are planted, and the water running out of the terraces looks clear enough to drink.
