We keep two trucks busy hauling on/off year around pretty easy because we don’t have terminals, ethanol plants, or elevators every 10 miles like some areas do. In fact we are considering getting a third semi when this farm economy improves. What hurts us is distance. If we get the crop we could potentially have over 50,000 bu that has to be hauled 120 miles one way. Next year in addition to that, we will have about 30,000 that has to go 100 miles.

Are those numbers a typo? That’s less than a load per truck per week year round. You’d have to be hauling all the way to Florida to think about a third truck for that.

We move more tons in two days during harvest.
