Finding good help seems to be a huge problem especially ag. Reading through comments makes me think a lot about our employees. I’m pretty young (25) and have seen guys come and go most weren’t worth much any way. Anyway everyone saying pay by the hour, what do you do when they are wasting time? Just turn your head and forget about it or lay down the law? Or what do you do to make them not want to waste time? We pay our full time guys salary. They get a house and a work vehicle (costs them nothing to get to or from work or rent. They are responsible for electric bill. Our area is cheap to live. I’ve thought about paying our mechanic by the hour but the amount of time he wastes would get expensive. Or pay by the hour and send them home when wasting time? I guess there’s no great answer but wondering how else deals with this.

just wondering if you've ever worked an hourly job where there was no family or friend connection?
