North End I-15 | About 75 years ago on a fine spring day ,my dad and I were out back of chicken house working in a dead tree lot . Dad wanted me to the shop to get a different hand saw .
I got past the chicken house to the shop ok but on the way back that dang old rooster spied me.
Chickens were all free range in those days . Egg collecting for my two older sisters and I was always a game of hide and seek and dodge the Rooster .
We were strength in numbers with the oldest sister always having a snow fence lath to ward off harm.
I was just making a circleous path around the chicken house and here came the rooster . Seeing I was by my self he took after me with a fury . I was running screaming for dad when the bugger jumped up to spur me. I with out thinking swung the hand saw as hard as I could behind me . Got lucky and caught the bugger in the neck with the tooth side of blade . Broke its neck.
Mother said he was a tough old bugger from start to finish.
