Subject: RE:skip the coc

This is my experience and my area, but if I had untilled cornstalks I would not plant coc. Soybeans can grow fine with notill , vertical till , or a disk, but I would not in any way notill corn back into corn stalks. I have done tillage in the spring, and planted corn, but it was less than satisfactory, too. good luck

There are large parts of corn growing area that have warmer and more open winters than north iowa and Minnesota. In those areas, there is way more stalk decomposition and a much better chance of success with coc in untilled stalks. I just traveled thru eastern iowa , Illinois and part of Indiana and saw very little tillage done there. Im sure less tillage works well and cool for them.
