Diameter is not as important as thickness. We just changed out openers that were 14 7/8” but almost 20% of the tickness was gone. We have been getting 100 to 150 acres per set on 3.00 mm blades. Trialed 3.5mm openers and will likely get 2.5x the life from them if the bearings last that long. 020 wear on 3.0 mm in 100 acres per row but less than .010 wear on the thick ones. Much of the loss in thickness is on the inner surface of the blades.
