IMHO if you want to do the job once and right, put in a Bohlman concrete water and install it exactly per the instructions.  I use two 3 ft long 12" dia heat tube sections, the top one insulated, the bottom one just std 12" plastic culvert.  I put a Miraco foot valve in on all waterers so I can shut off the water if its not used some winter and then I do not need to keep the electricity to it.

Checked that MIraco foot valve - - - - they only have it in a 3/4" fitting size.

I bought what is called a curb stop years ago (actually a few of them).
They get used in urban water systems. They expect these things to get buried and working for 25 years issue free.
I had gotten tired of farm hydrants crapping out after 10 to 12 years and then not being able to repair them.

Like the idea of a concrete waterer.
Run into enough of them where they are used on a flow system with no heat at all.

Wonder if that's how Garvo is using them?
