There will be differences in price, how they handle things like multiple entities/crop shares, overhead allocations, UI/UX, etc. But it will happen relatively soon.
I met a farmer today who uses Centerpoint to categorize every invoice by product. I didn't ask if he also "tags" the expenses for each crop year. If so, that's the data needed to feed into a profitability map. We need to reach out to Centerpoint to see what kind of an API they have.
Categorizing expenses by product in generic accounting software is very cumbersome (you basically have a chart of accounts that grows every year as you can't delete any varieties). Crop year "class" tracking/tagging of expenses is relatively easy but only a small number of farmers I've met break expenses down to the product-level.
Have you tried Centerpoint's cloud software by chance? I heard they have a web-based offering but I haven't heard any feedback on it. | |
