Subject: RE: 21,000 reasons for FSA

I completely disagree. A majority of the land sold around here doesn’t get funneled through FSA, at least the auction land. I was lucky enough to buy 240 acres privately back in 2010 on the FSA program and without it, I wouldn’t have been able to purchase it without putting money down that I didn’t have. If everyone was using it then yes I would agree, it gets reflected back on sale price, but it’s a small group that even qualifies for the money, and it has to cash flow to even be accepted. They don’t just hand out 300k to anyone who puts their name down, it’s a very lengthy and time consuming application. And you only qualify for 10 years, after that you have to move on to conventional financing.

So in the end, yes, it absolutley matters. $21,000 a year for a small grower is a decent chunk of change.
