Not sure if I picked the right forum for this question (I'm sure I'll promptly be directed to the right one by someone if I chose wrong).

I had some beans at 16.5%. I blended them with some 11% beans. I did this for a total of 6 loads. I'm guessing the trucks had 60% of the drier beans and 40% of the wetter beans. I had a range of results on final blended moister from the elevator. Lowest was 13.5%, highest was 15%. How would you calculate the value of blending?



You don't say what H20 was on how many loads. If take simple ave = 14.25% = 3.45% shrink x say 6000 bu = 207 bu shrink


40% x 6000 bu = 2400 bu @ 16.5% = 8.05% shrink. 2400 bu x 8.05% = 193.2 bu. You lost about 14 bu by blending.
