Why wife currently has her last 10 paychecks sitting in our safe. Uses that as part of our savings accounts vs putting in the bank to collect zero interest.
That sounds like a terrible idea. Don’t checks often expire after 90 or 120 days?
She's the controller of a small, service oriented company, some weeks they bring in 100,000 some weeks its 500,000, depending on what jobs they get paid for that week. Payroll gets a bit stretched at times. It's her way of helping them out, and keeping us within our means and building savings.
She's fully aware the checks expire after 6 months. But it's easy to reissue when she's at the top.....
Yup. In my line of work, I run across some terrific savers. The very best learn to live on one income, and save the spouses check in total. Pretty much enables the couple to both fully retire about ten years earlier than would otherwise be possible.
