Western Iowa
You are on the right track. I used a truck auger for a few years. Old $500 auction special, worked fine, but I just used a tractor to run it. I wouldn't advise that, too much dust on the tractor...……. auger held up for several years doing double duty fertilizer and a few more just doing corn.

I have moved to a stainless field loader that I took off the engine (small gas engines and fertilizer dust don't mix either). Run hoses up to the buggy tractor. Works great, and have more power than I need at the conveyor.

Roughly speaking, without losses, probably want something around 10-15 gpm. Guessing again at 400 rpm desired speed would give you a 5.8cc motor at 10gpm and 8.6cc at 15gpm. Rough starting point.
