West of Mpls MN about 50 miles on Hwy 12 | You don't say how you're handling the swine manure. Big tank with knives on the back I assume?
Spend a little money on upgraded, or different manure handling equipment instead of a tractor trade. As others have said figure out a way to haul swine manure with the 4wd. It doesn't take much for hydraulics to run pretty good sized pump or fan hydraulically. If you are knifing the manure in, the 4wd will pull the knives better.
I was going to trade, or sell a bareback tractor last winter and most likely take a financial beating on it because I didn't feel it was earning it's keep. I bought a very reasonably priced, new to me 16/31 row second planter that doesn't require a three point hitch or pto so I can plant soybeans and corn at the same time. The combination has turned out to be one of the better tractor/planter combinations I have ever owned.
The tractor now earns it keep. |
