| The hydraulic motor might be more practical than the pto on the older tractor. If I ever took two correct forks in the road, it was my decision to own a 24 year old magnum and an eight year old magnum. My older planter tractor has over 8000 hours on it but both tractors have given me very little down time. I do have an older 4650 than can be put on the planter if the situation should arise. They lack bells and whistles but I almost never need a service call during planting. Your red machines are about the same generation as mine and hopefully they will be as reliable. If you do ever have an issue during a critical time is it possible to rent a tractor for a season? I'm in a neighborhood that has a plentiful choice of used tractors sitting on dealers lots. I find it hard to believe that if I had a major event that I couldn't find a rental tractor. You know what you have in the shed and if you buy a used tractor you might be buying a surprise. | |
