| For reference in regards to wind chill and pressure changes, a google search this morning informed me that the highest atmospheric pressure ever recorded was 31.0065 inHg. The lowest atmospheric ever recorded was 25.69 inHg. Now note that these events were not on the same date, place, or time in history. These are the extremes of each end of the spectrum. The differential pressure between these two events is 5.3165 inHg. Convert this to a unit we can all relate with, PSI. 5.3165 inHg is 2.61 PSI. A normal air conditioning system or air compressor operates at much higher pressure differentials than that. Yes, the potential pressure drop associated with a stiff wind may cause a slight decrease in temperature, but its pretty minimal. My guess is it is on the order of 0.001 degrees. I honestly don't mean this to be a degrading post in any fashion, all I want to do is educate. | |
