A long number of years ago, a carload of us kids drove 40 minutes to the bigger shopping mall town.

A friend and I got into a debate about what holds pants up, the belt clamping or friction of the material on your belly.

The rest of the carload still reference that evening, to this day, as one of the more interesting non sensical conversations they ever listened to. This was -before- we got to a bar.....

Sometimes the argument is more fun than the conclusions.

Anyhow.

Temperatures like to equalize over time. Heat wanders off and fills in cold areas, until things get mighty close to equal.

Making something cold is kinda difficult. You have to carry heat away, you can’t move cold in.

If you change a liquid into a gas, that process moves a lot of heat away.

As with a propane or nh3 valve freezing up. Or a carborator on a cold engine icing up. It is when a liquid is forced to change into a gas. The valve or carb can become much colder than anything else.

When wind blows over your exposed cheeks or fingers, the faster the wind blows, the faster it turns the bit of moisture on and in your skin into a water vapor. That change can more rapidly cool down your skin.
