WC IL
Most of the good hunting ground around here is either leased by outfitters, or owned by city folks or guys from Pennsylvania, Vermont, New York, etc. A lot of them seem to think a deer tag gives them the right to go wherever they want, but will have you charged with trespass if you track a wounded animal onto their property. And 95% of them would rather go home with all their tags than shoot a doe, few of them want the meat, just horns from the giant buck they got a picture of on one of their 75 trail cams.
If you can’t tell, I have little respect for most of the hunters that invade the area every year. Have seen license plates from I think 13 states in the last week cruising the roads. Lots of them open gates, cut fences to remove deer, drive across fields, and see nothing wrong with it. I don’t have any hunting ground, and am glad I don’t have to deal with them. I quit deer hunting 30 years ago when I heard some idiots talking about the “sound shots” they had taken that morning- shot at where they “heard” a deer.
I’ve got a freezer full of beef and pork, don’t need any venison anyway.
Rant over.
