Ran down corn one year as bad as any of the previous pictures on this thread. Got ideas from old posts on this site. No reel or anything else added to head.
Set tilt on head as flat as it would go. Heavy coat of graphite on the sheet metal. Turned gathering chains around backward. Welded flat washers on auger to make it more aggressive. Took ear savers off. I was amazed how good it worked. Was on a 6 row 963 IH head. Never had to get off the combine more tha 5 times on the whole field to unplug it.
