Subject: RE: Fastenal disappointment

How to save money using Fastenal or other fastener supplier... a LOT of money:
1. a repair need pops up on the farm... best example is tillage machines or row-crop planters.
2. go to your red/green/yellow/orange dealer
3. if you need 88 bolts of a certain size [say, for tillage tools or corn planter row units]... buy ONE... ONLY one. It will come in its own little bag, heat sealed, bar coded, branded in color, maybe even date coded.
4. go to Fastenal [or wherever]. bring that bolt inside and lay it on the counter. They will cut it out of the fancy bag and put it in THEIR garbage can... then will match size, grade, and plating to their inventory.
5. buy a box of 100 [best price usually], or if you must... the exact quantity.
6. compare the two receipts.
7. Take your family out to a nice steak dinner... STILL having spent less in total.

Or, if you love your paint...
1. Just buy 88 bolts at your implement dealer.
2. Enjoy the unwrapping process... 88 times.
3. Carry 88 bags to the burn barrel or dumpster.
4. Notice that they have Chinese headstamps anyway.
5. Fix your machine.
6. Eat pancakes.
