North West PA Or 20 yrs behind the West | We took a vacation there 2 yrs ago. We did one of the junior rangers programs. It was excellent and my daughter still talks about it. We went the first weekend in November. Far less crowded then my wife and I went in July and cooler. I really liked being there just as sun coming up. We stayed at the grand hotel. I liked it better than hotels I have stayed at in Las Vegas. Two thumbs up for family vacation spot. As for hiking. We just hiked along the trails on the south rim. If u get tired. Just jump on one of free buses that travel back and forth along rim trail
