Subject: Carpentry question car siding

west central Iowa
Working on my calving barn, it was built as a hog house in the late 50s by my Dad. He bolted the sliding door track to the car siding and gradually over the last 50+ years the nails holding the car siding pulled out of the studs from the weight of the doors. Trying to fix it today and of course things aren't coming out right. In the pic shown I had to remove one more piece of car siding below what's already removed so that makes three pieces taken out and three new pieces won't quite fill the gap, it lacks about 3/4". I don't think I can cheat enough on the tongue and groove part to stretch it out fill the hole. Any ideas how to fix it, other than covering it with steel, I don't want to do that yet, might do some major renovations before doing that. Could just cut plywood to cover the whole gap I guess, it's not a very pretty building anyhow.
