I am not saying i disagree, nutrients certainly leave the farm and if not replenished one is "mining nutrients". However, me mining my own farm or buying commercial fertilizer from somebody elses mine (whether that mine is in Brazil, Canada, Africa or in the States) are both not infinite. There is a lot of unavailable to plants nutrients in my clay soils, why not try and Mine that by making them available with covercrops. Maybe we should think of ourselves as miners instead of farmers!! I think people that own mines make more money anyway! (I don't have any answers, just questions)
