Subject: RE: Alaska tours

Hastings, Florida

Last August we took the 11 day Princess Cruise tour deal. Flew into Anchorage, spent 5 days around Denali ( OK, but not the best part ),with scheduled excursions every day, they moved us around 3 different hotels, as planned, by bus. Then long train ride down to cruise ship and headed south to Vancouver. Several stops along the way, each with different side tours. We enjoyed seeing the sled dog farm, whale watching on smaller boats, bear sightings, and  train ride in the country-side. Lots to do, it all costs  $$$$$, but is worth it. Best part of boat cruise was simply watching the glaciers and icebergs go by.
Some of these side excursions can be iffy, bordering on ripoffs. If you book through a cruise line or established tour group, no problems, but there are fly-by-night trips offered, that are not so great.

I had never been a fan of pre-planned tours before, but Princess has it all figured out, we had no problems on the tour. We recommend them for an Alaska vacation.
