Arkansas | Was taught young to put a navajo blanket under a saddle pad. I think it is just a buffer to keep the pad clean/collect sweat and hair. Have unsaddled wet horses let them cool off and put new blanket with same pad. Sacrifice type deal. That said I dont think there is a problem with the pad alone, the trainer prob throws the pad away after each use and gets a new one haha! I have used the impact gel pads alone and they seem to work good they just have to be cleaned like a blanket! Good size navajo blankets are very hard to find (if anyone knows of a good source please share).
Disclaimer-I know very little about horses! I have a few dinks that get used heavily on occasion, and stand with all four feet out because they are used to being in the back of a stock trailer! | |
