North West Ukraine
Depending on soil test and previous crop, "here" in Ukraine we usually place 130-150 lbs/a NPK 15-15-15 in seed furrow. This is just enough for a good start and root development. Greater emphasis is on spring N management - usually split applied 250-300# of N and at least 25# S at tillering and jointing stages. In some cases we can add extra 30-40# of N before flag leaf emergence. As to micros we usually apply foliar products in the tank mix. We apply B in the first spray pass in spring (tillering), then Mg, Mn, S, Cu in the second pass (before jointing stage) and foliar P and K at heading. Average yield of winter wheat this year in my area was around 100 bu/a.
Also, we never cut costs on seed treatment - two-component fungicide + insecticide + micros + aminoacids.
