You really should check out optisurface if you want water to run. It can save you up to 80% in earthworks. http://www.optisurface.com/
They have some good training videos to explain how it works and they'll do a free demo design to show you how it works on your survey data.

They also recently released a tool apparently that looks at furrow irrigation on any design surface and you can even optimize things like the inflow rate for each furrow and cutoff time.
