Iowa | Current model fixed wing aircraft need to be a minimum of 25% of their wingspan above the crop canopy to achieve proper pattern development to avoid streaking. This is a fact based on many years of testing. Go back in time several decades to older aircraft with different physics at play and then one can make a case for getting down low. Late model aircraft flying too low to the crop results in a very poor job of application.
Flying close to the crop is in no way an indicator of skill or quality of work. | |
