Farm in WC Iowa
This situation is not fun for you. I am still waiting for my turn at the BBQ.
The things that spoke to me are

Getting the land surveyed. That will clarify most legal concerns that may pop up due to ownership now and later.

Work with your sister. I'm not sure about your unique situation but your BIL sees the whole situation from only his eyes and not that of your family (living or deceased).

When you talk with your BIL again let him know exactly how much time and money you have used to operate their farm business. Calculate custom rates of all services and any extra labor to do so.
Iowa state custom rates are $128/acre custom charges for corn and custom charges for soybeans are $119/acre. It looks like BIL needs to cut you out a check for about $30,000 for the last 12 years or to shut his yapper.

I know not many people like friction with people especially family. It is important to clear the air and have a plan for moving forward. I really hope you can keep things in good terms with your sister and also her spouse.
