Sounds like you have worked past your childhood and are more sensitive to the thoughts and feelings of others because of it.
"I try to be as HONEST and encouraging as possible" You are doing well, honest is very important. My mother would tell me I could do anything (which I knew at a very young age was a lie) but when I wanted to try something she would say "you can't do that you will just fail", not good for ones self esteem.
I am OK now and try to be sure I am not burdening others with my shortcomings, my children have grown up to be happy well rounded people thankfully. Thanks for posting.
