I think what happens is that the fed's come in and tell the bank that they have too many questionable loans and to get rid of some. So the bankers didn't want to take a loss so they get rid of the ones that they know that they are not going too lose much on. Keep the guys that would be big loses on for another year hoping that they can get another year of interest out of them. That's what happened here in the 80's. If things stay where we are at for another couple years bankers are going to go into Job Preservation Mode.
At that time, the bank didn't lose ANYTHING with me. But they lost ALOT from others that didn't pay their bills.
When I changed banks, the FIRST thing that came out of the original banks mouth was this. "Man I hope we don't lose your deposit accounts!" |
