Subject: Starting a cow herd.

My father and I are thinking about getting into beef cows after getting out of dairy. Our first concern is they have to be docile and then we want easy calvers/ good mothers. I am thinking of getting some milking shorthorn/ short horn heifers or cows. We would cross those with Red Angus and then maybe go to terminal breeds. The plan is to have them on pasture but add hay and rye bale age. We want something that can eat cover crop and rained on hay. We want to sell our good hay. Am I wrong about those two breeds? We will be starting out small and grow into it if we like it. I am serious about docile. I have helped my friend with a bunch of stupid wild bleeders and I would rather wipe my butt with tobacco soaked toilet paper than work with a herd of cows like that.
