Missouri

You've picked the right two breeds to make your F1, just avoid the milking type. You'll get your docility, udder conformation, maternal efficiency, and pelvic size from the Shorthorns and the Red Angus won't screw them up too bad while keeping them red and adding some growth. The maternal heterosis bounce alone will benefit you for years. Breed them to a proven terminal style Simmental growth line and you'll be using the system like it was designed to be used.

Shorthorn x Angus/Red Angus cows have been walking my hills longer than I have. They work right along side of pures of all three breeds. It doesn't take long to see which characteristics each breed is bringing to the table in the herd or on the rail.

Real world numbers... Set of 6 frame or smaller Shorthorn and F1 heifers just averaged 195 on pelvic scores at a just under a year of age. Vet just laughs when I ask if anyone flunked.

I'm obviously biased.

Try MARC...

Or Tri County...
