IMHO there is almost as much difference within a breed as between breeds. Docility can be bred in and/or trained into most cattle. A teenager doing some target practice and quading / dirt biking near the herd will help. Hand feeding makes much quieter cow than feeding from the tractor seat. Culling the bad ones particularly when selecting replacements. When we did our final replacement selection we would walk all the heifers past us in a 12 ft alley and cut out the poor ones and repeat this process 4 or 5 times moving them from one small handling pen to another for a couple of hours. The heifers that got tired of this and started getting difficult went to the feedlot pen.
