Look at the photos of Tecumseh's prefab posts. They improved the Perma-Column concept with an infinitely adjustable leg, this allows the mount surface to be fine tuned to a perfect alignment. The Morton salesman said they have the patent and also pay a royalty for the original design. So you can choose to use Perma-Column or the improved and exclusive Morton version.
