Saranac, Michigan
In answer to the above

!. We had to do some special work to get the ITC and the 3000 to behave well enough for surface and subsurface work but it works. Thousands of customers use it every year for tiling and surface grading.
It is important to note that we did the same for Hemisphere, Trimble and Topcon. We have used these in road building as well, where the decision of a good grade is not buried underground but checked against actual grade stakes.

2. We use the same software in construction as ag. We allow the use of .dxf, .dwg, and xml files not only for construction but ag as well. We view customers as customers, not as farmers or contractors. They both need the same level of accuracy in their work.

3. You may see AMW as a software only company. I could only wish that were true. Over the years we have had to develop hardware to go along with the software. In order to get the best bang for the buck we have passed that knowledge on to companies that could build it for less.

We have also taken other manufacturer's equipment and improved their hardware for use in new areas. For any of you old enough to remember Geodimeter, that is now part of Trimble. They developed the robotic total station that is still the mainstay in construction for vertical accuracy. We bought the second one that came to this country in 1993 and revamped its output to be used in machine control. If you are a road builder you will be told that you need this instead of GPS for final grade. Or maybe you deal with Topcon and they tell you that you need a laser (specialized) to go along with your GPS to get the accuracy needed. We worked with Laser Alignment, now part of Leica, on this integration in 1995.

The end result of all of this? Just make GPS work. Every kind of measuring device has errors. Learn to work with it. Oh, you bought a dozer or a grader? No problem the system you bought for ag will run them as well. Compact silage? Got a system for that too.

4. Now, for those of you who have endured this, AMW uses PC tablet computers. Why?
a. Calculation Power for GPS correction and "on the fly" design calculation.
b. Newer Technology quicker
c. Lower Cost
d. Able to run partnering software

5. AMW also has design software for tile and land shaping.

Let "er fly!
