Mooresville North Carolina | The best results I've had planting into fescue sod is to kill it early. I feel as early as you can kill it and have a cover make through the winter do it. I'm picking up some land that is fescue pasture now. I'm planing to kill it just as soon as the cows leave, hopefully in late august or early september. I want to give those roots as much time as I can to rot. Every time I plant beans into spring killed sod I end up with a very poor stand. My beans just can't compete with fescue sod.
