Smoke a pork butt at 230 degrees for 2 hours per pound. (16 hours for an 8 pounder)
No need for foil while it is smoking. When it reaches 200 or 205 degrees wrap it in tin foil, then towels and place in cooler for a few hours.
I rub with Cook Shack Spicy Chicken Rub and and use burr oak for the smoke.
