south central WI		I have never had a camper and probably wouldn't follow my own advice(lol) but maybe try and rent one the first year or two? That way you can see if a 5th wheel or motor home is more your style. It's a big purchase. Try to work out that a certain % of rental goes towards purchase if you want to buy it. This would also help you decide on if you want sliders or big/small etc.
