David Loberg Northeast Nebraska
A big question everyone is asking up here is what exactly is irrigated ground anymore? Our NRD has put allocations on us, and there is a ban on any additional irrigated acres. If you take out a place, and irrigate across it, you will lose the right to irrigate that farm. A neighbor was told he would be made an example of if he tried it by the NRD manager. So we are taxed on an parcel as irrigated, but we're not allowed to irrigate certain parts if wished? And if it's allocated, shouldn't the value be decreased to a value between non allocated and dryland? It's going to get ugly, but one thing is for sure I bet. The farmer will be wrong, and the county and NRD will be right...
